In honor of the long-awaited release of the iPad, there's a series of "iPadDevCamp" events going on around the country and the world, the weekend of April 17th - 18th.
So join us, and help rock the new iPad era in style right here in Los Angeles!
Sat. April 17, 2010: 10AM ‑ 7PM
Sun. April 18, 2010: 10AM ‑ 7PM
This is a unique "unconference"/"hackathon" type of event – a loosely-structured gathering of Developers, Designers, and Entrepreneurs getting together en masse, for collaborating and sharing of their expertise in creating new content for this groundbreaking new mobile platform. It's also a great way to network with others you may not (yet) have met in the Southern California development community.
Attendees will include Cocoa Touch developers, web developers, UI designers, QA testers, and other mobile visionaries, all working together over the weekend. We encourage everyone to team up, based on expertise, to work in ad-hoc project development teams. All attendees should be prepared to participate in some kind of development project during the event.
We'd love for you to be part of this historic inauguration into the brave new world of iPad.
Plus, there'll be live keynotes from Silicon Valley ... raffle prizes ... and more to come!
CoLoft
920 Santa Monica Blvd.
Santa Monica, CA 90401
(south side of street, between 9th and 10th)
We're lucky to have a wonderful venue for the event.
This is a brand-new collaborative space, right here on the westside – a great place for meetings & getting some work done. It's a comfortable professional environment, a couple of notches above Starbucks, but without the heavy price-tag of a dedicated office.

NOTE: This is very casual, nothing fancy. (And no one is required to present anything!)
But we’d love it if you’d share your insights and/or what you’re working on - just some snippets of iPad-y goodness to show to the group.
Please either sign up on the calendar when you arrive, or let us know during the course of the event, if you have info that might be helpful for the rest of the crowd.
Come share the iPad love. :)
On Sunday, we'll also have a video crew on-hand from the new web show "App-A-Day TV," interviewing attendees to find out their thoughts on the brave new world of iPad.
So if you want to strut your stuff on the web – and maybe put in a plug for your groovy new iPad app for all the world to see – this be the place!

Due to the size of the venue – and so that it doesn't get too crowded for comfort – we're limiting attendance to the first 50 RSVPs.
Because of the nature of the event, we wanted to keep the ticket price to a nominal fee ($49 for the weekend). Proceeds help us cover the venue & various other basic expenses.
However, if we can get a few good corporate Sponsors, we're hoping to also provide food for attendees and more. If you can help, please see details below.
In any event, space is VERY limited. Get your tickets while they last!
If you know a deserving and promising student who might benefit from participating in this event, but isn't able to afford the full ticket price, please send a few paragraphs' worth of details, and we'll follow up. Please note that seats are limited.
Please keep in mind that this is NOT a formal training event. It's an "unconference" or "hackathon" – a unique opportunity to collaborate amongst (and learn from) peers and mentors. It's for existing Cocoa developers and designers to build and demo new iPad apps, and ideally share what they've done (and learned) with the rest of the group.
More info on the general format here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconference
(FYI: There will be formal sit-down training here in L.A. the following week, thru one of our sponsors, CodeFab. This is separate from the DevCamp.)
There is WiFi available for attendees on-site.
iPadDevCampLA is organized strictly by volunteers.
If you'd like to lend a hand, and help make this first DevCamp event in L.A. a success – and especially if you're available that weekend – please drop a note with your contact info.

Interested in becoming an iPadDevCampLA Sponsor, and being a part of this important event?
Or do you know someone at a (presumably high-tech & forward-thinking) company which might be interested in associating with such a stellar group of people? If so, please ping us directly with the details, including your & their contact info. Donations of $1,000 or more are good for full sponsorship status, and having their name & logo prominently associated with the event itself. Sponsorship deadline is April 12th, 2010.
Thank you in advance!
We hope to see you at iPadDevCampLA!
